How It Works
Four steps, one short form, and a decision that stays in your hands at every point.
Step 1 — Submit One Short Request
The secure form on our apply page asks for the basics a lender needs to say yes or no: identity, income and its source, banking details for deposit, and the amount you are requesting between $500 and $5,000. It typically takes a few minutes. Starting a request begins with a soft credit check, which does not affect your credit score; a lender you later choose to proceed with may run a hard check before final approval, and will say so. Before you type a number, our sizing guide and calculator exist to make it the right number.
Step 2 — Get Matched With Lenders
Your request reaches our network of independent lenders. Those licensed for your state and open to your profile respond — typically within minutes during business hours, sometimes longer evenings and weekends. We are not part of this decision: matching is determined by each lender’s own criteria, and some states restrict or do not permit certain loan products, so response volume varies by where you live. No response, or no acceptable response, costs you nothing.
Step 3 — Compare Offers and Choose
Each interested lender presents its terms: APR, any fees, the repayment term, and the monthly payment. This is the step the rest of this site trains you for — read total repayment before monthly payment, check the prepayment clause, and interview every offer against the budget cap you set in advance. Accept at most one. Declining every offer is a normal, respectable outcome that leaves no mark and closes no doors.
Step 4 — Sign and Receive Funds
Proceeding with a lender moves you to their own process: document verification, a possible hard credit check, and an electronic agreement to read fully and sign. Read the agreement completely — especially the payment schedule, the fee table, and the prepayment terms — before signing anything. Once approved, funds commonly arrive by ACH deposit as soon as the next business day, though timing is set by the lender and your bank. From there, our repayment playbook covers the year that follows: autopay, a one-payment buffer, and an early payoff when good months allow.
What This Process Is Not
It is not a guarantee of approval — no honest service offers one. It is not a payment we take from you — the request is free, and our compensation comes from lenders, as the disclosure explains. And it is not a commitment until you sign a specific lender’s agreement: everything before that signature is shopping, and shopping is exactly what we built this site to make you good at.
